Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for reduction operations
- Access, interpret and apply reduction process documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Coordinating and communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Select appropriate type of auxiliary equipment for work activities
- Perform equipment pre-start checks to ensure equipment is ready for operation
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
- Start up equipment in sequence
- Operate and monitor equipment
- Read, interpret and apply data from equipment indicators to determine reduction efficiency
- Continuously inspect and monitor operations/plant and catchment areas to identify reduction process defects and potential problems
- Adjust equipment to approved operating parameters to optimise reduction, maintain efficient reduction
- Add reagents to approved operating parameters
- Determine the effects adjustments have on upstream or downstream outputs and communicate to others
- Complete all required documentation clearly, concisely and on time
- Pass on end of shift information verbally or in writing to oncoming shift
- Shutdown in sequence and/or isolate equipment
- Conduct housekeeping activities
